Kaine Deville is exactly what you'd expect of a billionaire – with a private island in the Caribbean on the side, just so he, and his guests, can have a hidden playground for all the fantasies imaginable. He's ruthless, he's used to getting his own way, and the last thing he's looking for is love.
When he visits Jessica's exhibition, he's impressed enough with her talent to buy every single painting, and commission her to paint a number of canvases that would capture the beauty of his private island. Once she arrives, the attraction between them is instantaneous. But there are quite a few surprises along the way... not all of which are pleasant.
First of all, I have to point out – the blurb is quite deceiving. What you'd expect is just another 'billionaire meets an ordinary girl' type of story, where they fall in lust, fall in love, struggle with their feelings a bit, and have their HEA. What you'll find, once you start reading this story, is... a lot different.
Yes, there is lust at first sight. And, there is love at first sight. But once the story really begins to unfold, it goes its own, unexpected way. Not that it's a bad thing. Just... not what I expected to find here.
My main issue with the story was that a man like Kaine would say those three little words in a matter of days. It just felt out of character. Although I like instant love stories, it would be better, and a lot more convincing, if they'd spent some more time together before the I Love You's – especially as desperate and profound as theirs. I'm sure most of the readers won't have any trouble with that, but it's just something that made me doubt their feelings.
The 'darker' part of the story is mostly obvious, but makes the epilogue even sweeter. Still, Kaine's Redemption is more of an erotic love story than BDSM one, and overall it's quite a nice, entertaining read.
